We have just expanded our Feeding Gainsborough Network!
Gainsborough Nursery School has joined in partnership with ourselves here at Feeding Gainsborough to set up a mini food pantry and freezer to support their pupils and their families. Nurseries are not required to close, like schools and colleges are, during this third lockdown so it was very important to get this up and running as soon as possible.
The food in the mini pantry is free for parents and guardians of pupils to collect from the bike shelter in the nursery’s car park and includes staples such as tins, rice, cereals, pasta, sauces, biscuits as well as fresh fruit and vegetables, bakery and flowers. This food is replenished every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with fresh produce. The Nursey School also has a chest freezer topped up with frozen airline meals from Feeding Gainsborough such as Roast Chicken Dinners and these will be cooked for the children at lunchtime so they can all have a hot dinner.
We have already had a lovely story of one 3 year old, asking his mum if he could take a bunch of the flowers to give to his friend who is staying at home. We look forward to continuing to work with Gainsborough Nursery School and helping support their staff, pupils and their families.
